Chibichains was created by Drew Oliver around 2007 with the hope of creating interesting handmade items using rings. Since the time Chibichains was started I have learned many things and have incorporated it into my work. I started out purchasing the wrong size of rings and in some of the hardest material to use, especially as a new chainmailler with lacking muscles. I wanted to make a dice bag with this rings I bought in stainless steel, I got all the way to the end of the bag but was unable to finish the last ring off. My hands hurt for days since I had no clue on what I was doing. I later changed that bag into a cuff and learned more about my craft.
Many things have changed since 2007! I use different materials and know a thing or two about ring sizes and AR. There are so many things to learn and create in this craft and I hope to continue to always learn everything I can.
Most of the items I make will be made of jewelers grade aluminum, bright (which keeps the nice color of aluminum) and anodized (which has a color etched into it) along with copper and bronze. I have also been moving back into stainless steel and some titanium. I am willing to try any type of material out if you want a specific piece, but i do have to purchase those once an order is made. If you want an item made in a special material please email me at Chibichains@gmail.com and we can work out the design and material you prefer to have. Another change to Chibichains is that I am slowly using up all my machine cut rings and am moving towards saw cut rings. This means you won’t see a crimp at the end of the ring, instead it should be flat and line up better. The only problem with this is that the colors change depending on the cut and they are shinier.
Chibichains goes to a lot of different conventions in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. If you would like to see my pieces up close please attend one of these conventions! I do custom work all the time and I am willing to work with you on most projects.
